happy new year!
oh my, 2008 was quite a year. so many new things not only personally, but also new hope for our country and history was made.
while it's true that i'm in support of new beginnings, i can't help but always feel a sadness at the start of each new year. the same thought runs through my mind every year, "how time goes by so fast..."
well, i'm entering 2009 as a 30-year-old and i thought i'd be more prepared for this. aaah, but i wasn't. everyone keeps telling me that "30" is fabulous and wonderful and so many positive changes will happen, but i can't stop myself from thinking that most of my youth is all but a memory and there's no definitely no turning back.
i decided to read through some of my livejournal archives from 7 years ago. while reading them, i kept asking myself, "who is this person?" it felt like i was reading someone else's thoughts. i never realized how much i've changed...and here i thought that i let my twenties go to a waste. not true at all! much like many of my old friends and acquaintances (thank you, facebook for keeping me updated on EVERY SINGLE PERSON I HAVE EVER MET), i may not have had the traditional progressions into adulthood like marriage and children, but i certainly transitioned to the point where i could never imagine going back to those sweet and innocent, but nevertheless, naive and somewhat weak moments as a young adult.
and so, perhaps i am ready to bring on this new year...and bring on this new decade....with fervor and anticipation!
cheers to you, all my lovely and talented friends!
